SCRIPTURE: PSALMS 28
MEMORY VERSE:
“The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trust in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.” (Psalms 28:7)
REQUESTS OF DAVID TO GOD:
- Do not turn a deaf ear to me. (v. 1)
- Hear my cry for mercy. (v. 2)
- Do not drag me away with the wicked and those who do evil. (v. 3)
- Repay the wicked for their deeds and for their evil work. (v. 4a)
- Bring back upon the wicked what they deserve. (v. 4b)
- Tear the wicked down and never build them up again. (v. 5)
HOW DAVID REJOICED:
- Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. (v. 6)
- The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trust in him, and I am helped. (v. 8-7a)
- My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. (v. 7b)
- The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. (v. 8)
THOUGHTS:
David in his royal position had met many who pretended friendship only to meet their own goals. They speak cordially of their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts. David prayed that these wicked people all be punished swiftly. As true believers, we should be straight forward and sincere in our relationship with others.
