SCRIPTURE:  PSALMS 29

MEMORY VERSE:

“Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.  Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness” (Psalms 29:1-2)

HOW DAVID DESCRIBED THE VOICE OF THE LORD:

  1.  It thunders over the mighty waters. (v. 3)
  2.  It is powerful and majestic. (v. 4)
  3.  It breaks the cedars of Lebanon in pieces. (v. 5)
  4.  It makes Lebanon skip like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. (v. 6)
  5.  It strikes with flashes of lightning. (v. 7)
  6.  It shakes the Desert of Kadesh. (v. 8)
  7.  It twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. (v. 9)

WHO IS THE LORD?

  1.  The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. (v. 10)
  2.  The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. (v. 11)

THOUGHTS:

“The voice of the Lord” represents the thunder and the storm that is powerful and majestic.  The voice of the Lord breaks, strikes, shakes and twits.  If you trust Him, the storm will pass and He will give you peace.

God has revealed His power through mighty miracles over nature.  The power of God flooded the earth.  It raised Christ from the dead.  When you have problems, ask God to give you strength.  The same power that controls creation and raise the dead is available to you.
