Our Daily Scripture – 12/6/23 (Wednesday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALMS 9

MEMORY VERSE:

“Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” (Psalms 9:10)

WHAT DAVID PROMISE TO DO:

  1.  I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. (v. 1)
  2.  I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. (v. 2)

WHAT GOD HAD DONE FOR DAVID:

  1.  You have upheld my right and my cause.  (v. 4a)`21
  2.  You have sat on your throne, judging righteously. (v. 4b)
  3.  You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked. (v. 5a)
  4.  You have blotted out their name for ever and ever. (v. 5b)
  5.  You have uprooted the cites of the enemy and perished their memories. (v. 6)

WHAT GOD WILL DO:

  1.  He will reign forever and establish his throne for judgment. (v. 7)
  2.  He will judge the world in righteousness and govern the people with justice. (v. 8)
  3.  He will be a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. (v. 9)
  4.  He will never forsake those who seek Him. (v. 10)
  5.  He will not ignore the cry of the afflicted. (v. 12)

DAVID’S PETITION:

  1.  O Lord, see how my enemies persecute me!  Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death. (v. 13)
  2.  Arise, O Lord, let not man triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence. (v. 19)
  3.  Strike them with terror, O Lord; let the nations know they are but men. (v. 20)

CONSEQUENCES OF THE WICKED:

  1.  The wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands. (v. 16)
  2.  The wicked return to the grave. (v. 17)

THOUGHTS:

David praised God for the victories he won because God had judged his enemies and destroyed them.  He was assured of God’s protection for God was his refuge in times of trouble.  God listens to our cries and gives us encouragement.  We can face the wicked because God is always with us by our side.
