Our Daily Scripture – 12/8/23 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALMS 11

MEMORY VERSE:

“The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne.  He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them..” (Psalms 11:4)

David was in great difficulty.  The archers were around him to shoot their arrows.  His friends advised him to flee like a bird to the mountain.  But David trusted in the righteousness of God who loves justice and hates the wicked.  He examines the righteous and rains firing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked with scorching wind.

THOUGHTS:

When you are in the situation of David, what will you do?  Instead of flying away like a frightened bird, trust God and “mount up with wings like eagles”.  For God is on the throne and He will one day judge the wicked. If you love righteousness, God is on your side.

David’s advisers saw frightening circumstance and crumbling foundation, so they advised David to flee.  But David was optimistic because he knew God is greater than anything his enemies could bring against him.  Even if the foundations are shaky, God is in control.  His power is not diminished by turn of events.  For nothing happens without His knowledge and permission.  So, instead of running away, run to God for him to restore justice.
