SCRIPTURE: PSALM 63
MEMORY VERSE:
“I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.” (Psalms 4-5)
This Psalm was written when his son Absalom rebelled against him and he fled to the wilderness to hide.
HOW DAVID OVERCOME HIS FEAR:
- He earnestly seek for God – his soul thirsts for Him and his body longs for Him. (v. 1)
- His lip glories God because of His love. (v. 2-3)
- He lifts up his hand to sing praises with his mouth. (vs. 4-5)
- He remembers God as through the watches of the night. (v. 6)
- He sings in the shadow of this wings because God was his helper. (v. 7)
- He clings to God because God’s right hand upholds him. (v. 8)
- He rejoices in God because the liars will be silenced. (v. 11)
THOUGHTS:
David was having a painful experience when he had to leave his comfortable palace and fled to the wilderness to hide because of Absalom’s rebellion. When you find yourself in a “wilderness” situation, remember these:
- God is with you in difficult times.
- You can praise God and offer spiritual sacrifices by lifting your hands and sing with your mouth.
- Rejoice in God’s present protection, future guidance to strengthen your faith in Him.
