Our Daily Scripture – 1/29/24 (Mon.)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 63

MEMORY VERSE:

“I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.  My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.” (Psalms 4-5)

This Psalm was written when his son Absalom rebelled against him and he fled to the wilderness to hide.

HOW DAVID OVERCOME HIS FEAR:

  1.  He earnestly seek for God – his soul thirsts for Him and his body longs for Him. (v. 1)
  2.  His lip glories God because of His love. (v. 2-3)
  3.  He lifts up his hand to sing praises with his mouth. (vs. 4-5)
  4.  He remembers God as through the watches of the night. (v. 6)
  5.  He sings in the shadow of this wings because God was his helper. (v. 7)
  6.  He clings to God because God’s right hand upholds him. (v. 8)
  7.  He rejoices in God because the liars will be silenced. (v. 11)

THOUGHTS:

David was having a painful experience when he had to leave his comfortable palace and fled to the wilderness to hide because of Absalom’s rebellion.  When you find yourself in a “wilderness” situation, remember these:

  1.  God is with you in difficult times.
  2.  You can praise God and offer spiritual sacrifices by lifting your hands and sing with your mouth.
  3.  Rejoice in God’s present protection, future guidance to strengthen your faith in Him.
