Our Daily Scripture – 1/30/24 (Tue)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 64

MEMORY VERSE:

“You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.” (Psalm 64:5)

DAVID’S PETITION:

  1.  Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy. (v. 1)
  2.  Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from that noisy crowd of evildoers. (v. 2)

WHAT THE ENEMIES OF DAVID DID:

  1.  They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their words like deadly arrows. (v. 3)
  2.  They shot from ambush at the innocent man; they shoot at him suddenly, without fear. (v. 4)
  3.  They encourage each other in evil plans and talk about hiding their snares. (v. 5)
  4.  They plot injustice. (v. 6)

WHAT GOD WILL DO:

  1.  God will shoot them with arrows. (v. 7)
  2.  God will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin. (v. 8)

WHAT THE PEOPLE SHOULD DO:

  1.  All mankind will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done. (v. 9)
  2.  They will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him. (v. 10a)
  3.  They will praise him. (v. 10b)

THOUGHTS:

David expressed himself honestly to the Lord about his enemy’s attack because he knew that God would hear his voice.  So, if there is any thing such as: enemy’s betrayal, slander, illness, disturbances, anxiety or discouragement that you are facing now, tell it to the Lord.  God will always listen to you and he fully understands you.
