SCRIPTURE: PSALM 70
MEMORY VERSE:
“Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay.” (Psalm 70:5)
PETITION OF DAVID:
- Hasten, O God, to save me; O Lord, come quickly to help me. (v. 1)
- Put to shame and confusion to those who seek my life. (v. 2a)
- Turn back in disgrace to those who desire my ruin. (v. 2b)
- Shame those who say to me “Aha! Aha!” (v. 3)
Those who seek God and love His salvation always rejoice and exalt God because He is their help and deliverer.
THOUGHTS:
David was in a hurry when he wrote this Psalm. He began with “Hasten, O God” and ended with “O Lord, do not delay”. Sometimes, we want God to answer our prayers immediately. But his timing is never wrong. His delays are not denials or defeats. So put your time in His hands and wait on the Lord.
AMONG THE PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE WHO WAITED FOR THE LORD ARE:
- Joseph – he waited in prison before Pharaoh put him in charged on the whole land of Egypt.
- Moses – he waited the 10 plagues before Pharaoh would let the people go.
- Joshua and Caleb – they waited for 40 years before claiming their inheritance.
- David – he waited many years before receiving his throne.
- Job – he suffered financial losses, death of family members and physical illness for quite sometime before God healed and blessed him.
God is never in a hurry. His schedule is better than ours. So, be patient to wait on Him!
