Our Daily Scripture – 2/21/24 (Wednesday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 86

MEMORY VERSES:

“You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.” (Psalm 86:5)

“Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord, no deeds can compare with yours.” (Psalm 86:8)

“Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” (Psalm 86:11)

“I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.” (Psalm 86:12)

“But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 86:15)

DAVID’S PETITION TO GOD:

  1. Hear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. (v. 1)
  2. Guard my life, for I am devoted to you.  You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you. (v. 2)
  3. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long. (v. 3)
  4. Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, i lift up my soul. (v. 4)
  5. Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. (v. 6)
  6. Turn to me and have mercy on me, grant your strength to your servant and save the son of your maidservant. (v. 16)
  7. Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me. (v. 17)

DAVID PRAISED GOD FOR WHO HE IS:

  1. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. (v. 10)
  2. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave. (v. 13)
  3. But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (v. 15)
  4. For you, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me. (v. 17)

THOUGHTS:

3 IMPORTANT THIGS DAVID ASKED FROM GOD:

  1. Guard my life. (v. 2)
  2. Teach me your way; give me an undivided heart (v. 11)
  3. Grant me your strength (v. 16)

These are the things we should also ask from the Lord.

WHY ARE OTHER GODS IMCOMPARIBLE WITH OUR LORD?

  1.  He is forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who calls him. (v.5)
  2.  No other gods can compare the deeds with His. (v. 9)
  3.  He is great and do marvelous deeds. (v. 10)
  4.  Great is His love. (v. 13)
  5.  He is compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (v. 15)
  6.  He is a helper and comforter. (v. 17)
