Our Daily Scripture – 2/27/24 (Tuesday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 92

MEMORY VERSES:

“How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts!” (Psalm 92:5)

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalm 92:12-13)

WHY DID THE PSALMIST GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD?

  1.  Thanking Lord everyday for his love in the morning and faithfulness at night. (v. 2)
  2.  Thanking the Lord for his deeds, works and thoughts. (vs. 4-5)
  3.  Thanking God for being able to bear fruits in his old age. (v. 14)

THOUGHTS:

We should make thanksgiving an integral part of our life.  There are many things for us to be thankful to our parents, friends, relatives and especially to God.  The attitude of thanksgiving will change our life to become more positive, gracious, loving and humble.

The Psalmist said that the righteous will flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon planted in the house of the Lord and flourish in the courts of our God. (v. 12).  Palm trees are known for their long life.  To flourish like palm tress means to stand tall and to live long.  The cedars of Lebanon grew to 120 feet in height and up to 30 feet in circumference.  Thus, they were solid, strong and immovable.  The Psalmist saw upright believers strong and unmoved by the winds of circumstances.  Those who place their faith firmly in God can have the strength and vitality.

It is still possible for those who are of old age to produce spiritual fruits.  There are elderly friends who can teach you from their experiences and challenge you to new heights of spiritual growth.
