Our Daily Scripture – 3/3/24 (Sunday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 97 

MEMORY VERSE:

“For you, O Lord are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.” (Psalm 97:9)

“Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.  Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous. and praise his holy name. (v. 11-12)

SCENARIOS WHEN GOD REIGNS:

  1.  The earth will be glad and the shores will rejoice. (v. 1)
  2.  Clouds and thick darkness surround him. (v. 2)
  3.  His lightning lights up the world. (v. 4)
  4.  The mountains melt like wax before the Lord. (v. 5)
  5.  The heavens proclaim his righteousness and all the peoples see his glory. (v. 6)
  6.  Zion hears and rejoices and the villages of Judah are glad because of God’s judgment. (v. 8)
  7.  The lives of his faithful ones will be delivered from the hands of the wicked. (v. 10)
  8.  Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. (v. 11)

THOUGHTS:  

The clouds and darkness that surrounded God symbolize his unapproachable holiness.  No one could stand before his blazing holiness and glory.  Those who worship images and idols give their highest loyalty to something other than God. But one day, we will stand before God in all his glory and power and realize that all our earthly pursuits and accomplishments are useless and shameful.
