SCRIPTURE: PSALM 98
MEMORY VERSES:
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn – shout for joy before the Lord, the King.” (Psalm 98:4-6)
The Psalmist urged the people to sing a new song and shout for joy to the Lord.
WHY SHOULD WE PRAISE THE LORD?
- He has done marvelous things. (v. 1a)
- He has worked salvation for mankind. (v. 1b)
- He has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. (v. 2)
- He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel. (v. 3)
- He will judge the world in righteousness. (v. 9)
HOW TO PRAISE THE LORD?
- With a joyful shout and song. (v. 4)
- With musical instruments of harp, trumpets and ram’s horn. (v. 5)
WHO SHOULD PRAISE THE LORD?
- People of all the earth. (v. 4)
- Seas and everything in it. (v. 7)
- The rivers and mountains. (v. 8)
THOUGHTS:
This Psalm anticipates the second coming of the Lord. Jesus came to the world to save all people for their sins. And He will come again to judge the world. We should praise Him for His love and mercy and for His promise to return again.
