SCRIPTURE: PSALM 109
MEMORY VERSES:
“Help me, O Lord my God; save me in accordance with your love. Let them know that itis your hand, that you, O Lord, have done it. They may curse, but you will bless; when they attack, they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice” (Psalm 109:26-28)
“With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord; in the great throng I will praise him. For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him” (Psalm 109:30-31)
David was attacked by wicked and deceitful men. They spoke lies and accused fasely against David. They repaid evil for good and reutned hatred for their friendship. So David take it to the Lord and asked God to judge them.
DAVID’S WISHES FOR THE EVIL MEN:
- Appoint an evil man to oppose and accuse him. (v. 6)
- Let him be found guilty when tried. (v. 7)
- May his days be few; and his leadership be taken by another. (v. 8)
- May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow. (v. 9)
- May a creditor seize all he has and strangers plunder the fruits of his labor. (v. 11)
- May no one show kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children. (v. 12)
- May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord and the sin of his mother never be blotted out. (v. 14)
- May their sins always remain before the Lord and their memory be cut off from the earth. (v. 15)
- May curse come on him (v. 17)
- May they be put to shame. (v. 28)
- May he be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak. (v. 29)
DAVID’S CONDITION:
- I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 9v. 22)(
- I fade away like an evening shadow; I am shaken off like a locust. (v. 23)
- My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt. (v. 24)
- I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they shake their heads. (v. 25)
David request God to help him and save him in accordance with His love. When his accuser will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame, he wished that they will see how the hand of the Lord have done it. Then David will extol the Lord with his mouth and praise him in great throng.
THOUGHTS:
When people speak lies about you and reward you evil for good, take it to the Lord and tell him how you feel. Give God the opportunity to heal your wounded heart. Get rid of your enemy by leaving him with the Lord. And remember to praise God when God had dealt with your enemies.
