SCRIPTURE: PSALM 115
MEMORY VERSES:
“You who fear him, trust in the Lord, – He is their help and shield” (Psalm 115:11)
“He will bless those who fear the Lord – small and great alike” (Psalm 115:13)
“May the Lord make you increase, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 115:14-15)
WHO IS GOD?
Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
DESCRIPTION OF IDOLS:
- They are silver and gold made by the hands of men. (v. 4)
- They have mouths,, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see. (v. 5)
- They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but they cannot smell .(v. 6)
- They have hands but cannot feel, feet, but they cannot walk; nor can they utter a sound with their throats. (v. 7)
WHAT MUST WE DO?
- Trust in the Lord (vs. 9-11)
- Fear the Lord (v. 13)
- Extol and praise the Lord. (v. 18)
THOUGHTS:
The Psalmist emphasized that God’s name be glorified if you pray to God and He answers your prayer. Be sure the God gets the credit.
Those who worship idols are foolish because the idols cannot do anything for them. It is only God the Almighty who can encourage and help us during time of depression, problems and heartaches.
