SCRIPTURE: PSALM 141
MEMORY VERSE:
“Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies” (Psalms 141:3-4)
The prayer of David was an incense lifted up in evening sacrifice, like the burnt offering in the brazen altar of the Lord.
WHAT DID DAVID OFFER TO GOD?
- His mouth – keep on guard. (v. 3)
- His heart – avoid evil. (v. 4)
- His head – accept rebuke of righteous men and to watch out for the kisses of the enemy. (vs; 4-5)
- His eyes – look to the Lord in faith. (v. 8)
THOUGHTS:
David asked God to keep him from speaking evil during times of persecution. We should likewise ask God to guard what we say so that our words will bring honor to His name.
David welcomed the rebuke of a godly person as he regarded it as kindness. Let us learn to accept positive criticism by consider it as kindness without fighting back. Listen to suggestions and make it to become productive.
