Our Daily Scripture – 4/23/24 (Tuesday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 144

MEMORY VERSES:

“O Lord, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him?  Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.” (Psalm 144″3-4_

“I will sing a new song to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you, to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David from the deadly sword.” (Psalm 144:9)

DAVID DESCRIBED THE LORD AS:

  1.  My rock (v. 1)
  2.  My living God (v. 2a)
  3.  My fortress (v. 2b)
  4.  My stronghold (v. 2c)
  5.  My deliverer (v. 2d)
  6.  My shield (v. 2e)
  7.  My refuge (v. 2f)

DAVID’S PETITION:

  1.  Part your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke. (v. 5)
  2.  Send forth lightning and scatter the enemies, shoot your arrows and rout them. (v. 6)
  3.  Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty water. (v. 7)
  4.  Deliver me and rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful. (v. 11)

DAVID’S RESPONSE TO GOD’S ASSISTANCE:

  1.  I will sing a new song to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you. (v. 9)
  2.  Our sons will be like well-nurtured plants in their youth and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace. (v. 12)
  3.  Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. (v. 13a)
  4.  Our sheep will increase by thousands by tens of thousands in our fields. (v. 13b)
  5.  Our oxen will draw heavy loads. (v. 14)
  6.  Our people will be blessed. (v. 15)

THOUGHTS:

David described that man is like a breath.  His days are like a fleeting shadow.  This reminds us that our life is short.  Live for Christ so that He can make your life worthwhile and meaningful.

When you are fighting the battle with your enemies, remember to put on the full armor of God and be ready for the trumpet call.  After wining the battle, be sure to sing praises to God and thank Him for all He had done for you, for your family and for your nation.
