SCRIPTURE: PSALM 147
MEMORY VERSES:
“Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!” (Psalm 147:1-2)
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.” (Psalm 147:5-6)
“Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.” (Psalm 147:7)
WHY IS IT FITTING TO PRAISE THE LORD?
- The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. (v. 2)
- He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (v. 3)
- He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. (v. 4)
- He is great and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. (v. 5)
- He sustains the humble but cast the wicked to the ground. (V. 6)
- He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. (v. 8)
- He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.; (v. 9)
- He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you. (v. 13)
- He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat. (v. 14)
- He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. (v. 15)
- He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes. (v. 16)
- He hurls down his hail like pebbles and no one can withstand his icy blast. (v. 17)
- He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow. (v. 18)

BENEFITS OF PRAISING THE LORD:
- It brings spiritual beauty to God’s people. (v. 2)
- It heals the inner person. (v. 3)
- It sustains the humble. (v. 6)
- It pleases the Lord and enables Him to work in your life. (vs. 10-11)
- It protects you against enemies and grants you peace. (v. 12-14)
