Our Daily Scripture – 4/26/24 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 147

MEMORY VERSES: 

“Praise the Lord.  How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!” (Psalm 147:1-2)

“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.  The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.” (Psalm 147:5-6)

“Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.” (Psalm 147:7)

WHY IS IT FITTING TO PRAISE THE LORD?

  1.  The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. (v. 2)
  2.  He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (v. 3)
  3.  He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. (v. 4)
  4.  He is great and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. (v. 5)
  5.  He sustains the humble but cast the wicked to the ground. (V. 6)
  6.  He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. (v. 8)
  7.  He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.; (v. 9)
  8.  He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you. (v. 13)
  9.  He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat. (v. 14)
  10.  He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. (v. 15)
  11.  He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes. (v. 16)
  12.  He hurls down his hail like pebbles and no one can withstand his icy blast. (v. 17)
  13.  He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow. (v. 18)

THOUGHTS:

BENEFITS OF PRAISING THE LORD:

  1.  It brings spiritual beauty to God’s people. (v. 2)
  2.  It heals the inner person. (v. 3)
  3.  It sustains the humble. (v. 6)
  4.  It pleases the Lord and enables Him to work in your life. (vs. 10-11)
  5. It protects you against enemies and grants you peace. (v. 12-14)
