SCRIPTURE: PROVERBS 5
MEMORY VERSES:
“For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she knows it not.” (Proverbs 5:3-6)
“For a man’s ways are in full view of the Lord, and the examines all his paths.” (Proverbs 5:21)
WANINGS AGAINST ADULTERY (vs.1-23)
DANGERS OF AN ADULTERESS:
- She has honey lips with smooth speech. (v. 3)
- She is bitter as gall and sharp as double edged sword. (v. 4)
- Her feet go down to death and her steps straight to the grave. (v. 5)
- She does not think her way of life because her paths are crooked. (v. 6)
- She will sap up your strength. (v. 9)
- She will feast on your wealth. (v. a10)
- Your flesh and body will groan at the end of your life. (v. 11)
- You will come to the brink of utter ruin. (v. 14)
WHY SHOULD YOU PAY ATTENTION TO WISDOM?
- To maintain discretion and preserve knowledge. (v. 2)
- To ensure the blessings of your fountain. (v. 18a)
- To rejoice the wife of your youth. (v. 18b)
THOUGHTS:
Today’s world has commercialized sex and turned adultery into entertainment. But there are tragic consequences of sexual sin:
- It is sweet at the beginning but the ending is bitter.
- Loss of honor
- Shortening of your life span
- Loss of wealth
- Lack of joy
- Total bondage.
God designed marriage to be lively and pleasurable. Sex is a gift God gives to married couples for their mutual enjoyment and companionship. Real happiness can be obtained when both commit themselves to meet the needs of each other. To carelessly pursue sexual pleasure from an outside person is condemned by God. Committing adultery is endangering the health and security of a family. He or she will never be blessed.
