SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 15

A PROPHECY AGAINST MOAB (vs. 1-9)

WHAT HAPPENED TO MOAB?

  1.  Moab is ruined and destroyed in a night. (v. 1)
  2.  The men’s head is shaved and beard cut off (v. 2)
  3.  The people wear sackcloth on the roof and in public squares wailing and weeping. (v. 3)
  4.  The armed men of Moab cry out, and their hearts are faint. (v. 4)
  5.  The Moabites weep and lament their destruction. (v. 5)
  6.  Their waters are dried up and the grass is withered. (v. 6)
  7.  The wealth they have acquire and store up had disappeared. (v. 7)
  8.  They cry, wail and lament to the farthest place. (v. 8)
  9.  Their waters are full of blood. (v. 9)

THOUGHTS:

Moab was situated at the east of the Dead Sea.  The Moabites were descendants of Lot through his incestuous relationship with his older daughter.  Moab was the enemy of Israel.  They invaded Israel’s land and oppressed their people.  God was going to punish Moab for treating Israel harshly.
