SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 16
A PROPHECY AGAINST MOAB (vs. 1-13)
When the Assyrians invaded the Moabites, they should have made peace with Judah and gone to Jerusalem for asylum because God had promised to protect Judah from the Assyrian army. Isaiah prophesied that the Son of God would sit on David’s throne and bring in justice and righteousness. (v. 4). Their choicest vines have been trampled down by the rulers of the nations (v. 8). Moab’s splendor and all his people will be despised and her survivors will be very few and feeble. (v. 14)
THOUGHTS:
When the Moabites were attacked by the Assyrians, they sought their own idols and gods. But their idols did not save them. When we have troubles, do not seek our own ways to escape them. Instead, seek God because He is the only one who can hear and help us.
All the predictions of Isaiah came true three years after. When the people saw prophecy fulfilled, they acknowledge that Isaiah was a true prophet.
