SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 23
A PROPHECY ABOUT TYRE (vs. 1-18)
Tyre and Sidon were wealthy cities which had large seaports that served as a major trading center. Their shipping industry brought about their successful economy. But prophet Isaiah warned that the nation will be wiped out.
Egypt was terribly affected when Tyre fell because she depended on Tyre’s shipping expertise to promote and carry their products around the world. Egypt would lose their business with the fall of Tyre.
Assyria invaded Tyre and Sidon and put them out of business for 70 years. After 70 years, God will restore her and her profit will be set apart for the Lord. It will not be stored up or hoarded.
THOUGHTS:
God would destroy Tyre because of its pride. We must remember that all our accomplishments are only possible with the help of our creator. There is not reason for us to boast or take pride on ourselves.
