SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 24
THE LORD’S DEVASTATION OF THE EARTH (vs. 1-23)
The Lord is the creator of the earth and king over all over the earth. He has the right to do whatever he pleases. He is going to lay waste and devastate it because people disobeyed the laws, violated the statues, broke the everlasting covenant and did not care for the earth as faithful stewards of His gift.
CONSEQUENCES OF EARTH’S DEVASTATION:
- There is no distinction of economic or social status in human being. (v. 2)
- The joyful feast will end. (v. 13)
- Nobody can escape because every one will be trapped. (vs. 17-18)
THOUGHTS:
When God created the earth, everything was very good. But when sin entered the earth, the land suffered the effects of evil and lawbreaking. Sin has resulted pollution, crime and poverty in our land. Sin has affected the society so that even those faithful to God have to suffer. In order to prevent further deterioration, we must share God’s word, renounce sin and speak against immoral practices.
We may also become depressed by the evil all around us. But we need to hold on to God’s promises and look forward to sing praises to Him when He will finally restore heaven and earth.
