SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 27
DELIVERANCE OF ISRAEL (vs. 1-13)
“In that day”, the Lord will punish Leviathan, the gliding and coiling serpent with fierce and powerful sword. He will slay the monster of the sea. (v. 1). The Lord will watch over a fruitful vineyard. He will water and guard it day and night. (v. 3), God will defeat the enemies of Israel and gather His people back to their land.
THOUGHTS:
“That day” refers to the end of the evil world. God will crush the wicked and abolish it from the earth forever. God will purify His people and care for them.
The state of Israel’s spiritual life is compared to dry twigs that are broken off and used to make fires. The trunk is the channel of strength from God and the branches are the people who serve him. Sometimes, the branches may dry up from internal rottenness and become useless for anything except building a fire. Be sure to examine what kind of branch are you. Are you withering spiritually or are you attached to God?
