MEMORY VERSES:

“O Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you.  Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.” (Isaiah 33:1)

“The Lord is exalted, for the dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.  He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” (Isaiah 33:5-6)

“For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us.” (Isaiah 33:22)

DISTRESS AND HELP (vs. 1-24)

DIFFERENT KINDS OF PEOPLE:

  1.  The Destroyers – They destroyed the nation. )v. 1a)
  2.  The Traitors – They betrayed and sold the nation to their enemies. (v. 1b)
  3.  The Envoys – They sought help from other nations (v. 7)
  4.  The Sinners – They were hypocrites who pretended to serve God. (v. 14)
  5.  The Chief Officers – They took the revenue of the people (v. 18)
  6.  A Godly remnant – They spoke and walked righteously.  They rejected gain from extortion and refused to accept bribes.  They trusted the Lord and interceded for the land. (v. 15)
  7.  The Arrogant people – They had strange incomprehensible tongue that spoke obscure speech. (v. 19)

THOUGHTS:

Only those who walk uprightly and speak what is right can live with God.  We must reject gain from extortion and bribes, shut our eyes to evil and refuse to listen to plots of wrong actions.  Let us be honest in our relationships with God and men.
