SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 37
JERUSALEM’S DELIVERANCE FORETOLD (vs. 1-13)
When king Hezekiah heard what King Sennacherib said, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the Lord. He took his burdens to the Lord. Isaiah comforted him and told him not to be afraid.
HEZEKIAH’S PRAYER (vs. 14-20)
Upon receipt of the letter from the messenger, King Hezekiah prayed to the Lord and asked him to deliver them from their enemy.
SENNACHERIB’S FALL (vs. 21-38)
Because king Sennacherib despised and blasphemed the Lord, he was cut with the sword by his sons, Adrammelech and Sharezer at the temple of his god, Nisroch. Then God promised to defend the city of Jerusalem and feed his people with abundant harvest.
THOUGHTS:
Hezekiah turned to God and believed that God was there and he was able to help him. He persisted in prayer and faith even he could not see any answer. When we pray, we mut have complete trust that God will prepare the best answer for us. We have to ask in faith and wait in humility.
