Our Daily Scripture – 8/23/24 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 65

JUDGMENT AND SALVATION (vs. 1-16)

The people of Israel were pious on the outside but they were guilty of many wins:  worshiping idols, following occult practices, violating dietary law and blaspheming God.  However, there were faithful remnants who stayed loyal to God.  God will bless them with food, joy, comfort and peace.

NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH (vs. 17-25)

God will create new heavens and a new earth.  Jerusalem will become a delight and joy to its people.  They will build their house, plant and enjoy the work of their hands.  God will hear their call and bless their descendants.

THOUGHTS:

People disobeyed God’s laws by worshiping idols, making sacrifices, consulting evil spirits, eating forbidden foods.  They were hypocrites pretending themselves more sacred than others.  Since God is just, he has to judge our sins.  But there is always a faithful remnant who will remain loyal to Him.

The new heavens and a new earth is a place of safety, peace and abundance.  They are eternal and will be available to all.
