JEREMIAH’S PRAYER (vs. 23-25)

“I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.  Correct me, Lord, but only with justice – not in your anger, lest you reduce me to nothing.  Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the peoples who do not call on your name.  For they have devoured Jacob.; they have devoured him completely and destroyed his homeland.”

THOUGHTS:

Jeremiah reminded Israel that they belonged to the true God, the living God and the everlasting King.  He is the creator of everything.  He compared the idols with no breath, cannot speak, cannot walk and must be carried.  They are futile and worthless.  Today’s idols are money, position, fame, authority etc.  If you value them more than God, you are practicing idolatry.
