SCRIPTURE:  JEREMIAH 32

MEMORY VERSES:

“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind.  Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27)

JEREMIAH BUYS A FIELD (vs. 1-44)

Jeremiah’s cousin Hananel told Jeremiah to buy a field at Anathoth for 17 shekels of silver.  He signed and sealed the deed and had it witnessed.  He gave the deed to Baruch and told hm to put the documents and deeds of purchase in a clay jar.  Then Jeremiah prayed to the Lord and the Lord answered him with this promise – Nothing is too hard for me. The God said: “Even though I punish the Israel but I will surely gather them from all the lands where I banish them in my furious anger and great rath.  I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety.  They will be my people and I will be their God.  I will make an everlasting covenant with them and inspire them to fear me so that they will not turn away from me.  I will give them all the property I have promised them and restore their fortunes.”.

THOUGHTS:

It is foolish to purchase a property at a town occupied by the enemy.  But Jeremiah demonstrated his faith in God by doing what God had told him and believed that there is a future for that land.  Let the Lord speak to you and listen to his assurance.  People may laugh at you but rest in the Lord and allow Him to encourage you.  Believe that God can fulfill his promised and trust Him.
