SCRIPTURE:  EZEKIEL 3

God told Ezekiel to eat the scroll.  Ezekiel opened his mouth at ate it.  It tasted as sweet as honey in his mouth.  Then God sent him to the countrymen in exile to speak to them.  There, he sat among them for 7 days.

WARNINGS TO ISRAEL (vs. 16-27)

At the end of 7 days, God told Ezekiel to warn the wicked men to dissuade from their evil ways.  If he did not warn them, he will be accountable for their blood.  But if he warned them and they did not turn away from their wickedness or evil ways, they will die for their sins and Ezekiel will have saved himself.  When a right man does evil and you did not warn him, you will be responsible for his blood.

The spirit of God told Ezekiel to go and shut himself inside his house.  He will be bounded with ropes and cannot speak.  But God will open his mouth again at the right time.  Whoever will listen, let him listen, and whoever will refuse, let him refuse, for they are a rebellious house.

THOUGHTS:

In his vision Ezekiel ate God’s message and found that spiritual food is good and sweet as honey.  If you digest God’s Word, you will find that it not only makes you stronger in your faith, but it also sweetens your life.  You must feed yourself spiritually by digesting God’s Word regularly just as you digest food physically.

Ezekiel needed to take God’s word to heart before presenting to others.  Similarly, you must let God’s message sink deep into your heart and show in your action before you can effectively help others understand and apply the gospel.

Ezekiel set his face to do God’s will.  He sat among the people for 7 days and identified with their pain.  This was the customary periods of mourning for the dead.  He was mourning for those who were spiritually dead.

A watchman job was to stand in the city wall and warn the people of approaching disaster.  God told Ezekiel to be a watchman by staying quiet at home until he receive message.  Ezekiel knew that it is not easy to deal with difficult people but the obeyed the Lord.

God would hold Ezekiel responsible for the Jews if he failed to warn them of the consequences of their sins.  Believers have a spiritual responsibility to warn unbelievers of the consequences of rejecting God.  If we fail to do this, God will hold us responsible to what happen to them.  Therefore, we should begin to share our faith with others in words and deeds and show our concern for others.
