Our Daily Scripture – 12/27/24 (Friday)

SCRIPTURE::  HOSEA 6

ISRAEL UNREPENTANT (vs. 1-11)

HOSEA’S CALL TO ISRAEL:

  1.  Let us return to the Lord and he will heal us and bind up our wounds. (v. 1)
  2.  He will revive us after two days and on the third day, he will restore us and live in our presence. (v. 2)
  3.  Let us acknowledge the Lord, let us press on to acknowledge him. (v. 3)

If the Israelites will acknowledge the Lord, He will appear and come like the winter rains and spring rains that water the earth.

THOUGHTS:

When we come back to God, He will bring the dawning of a new day with refreshing shower.  He will and revive us.

The Israelites brought sacrifices and engaged in religious services but they lived a wicked life.  God does not want sacrifices or burnt offering.  God loves mercy and acknowledgement of Him.  Ritual becomes empty mockery when a person’s heart is far from God.  No sacrifice can substitute our obedience to God.

God made a covenant with the people of Israel at Mt. Sinai to give them blessings if they obeyed him.  If they broke the covenant, they would suffer judgment.  Sadly, they broke the agreement and and became unfaithful to Him.  How about you?  Have you broken faith with God? Have you forgotten your promise to God?
