SCRIPTURE: HABAKKUK 3
MEMORY VERSE:
“The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.” (Habakkuk 3:19)
HABAKKUK’S PRAYER (1-19)
Habakkuk expressed his adoration of God through prayer. He asked God to be merciful to His sinful people reminding Him of His promises. He reviewed God’s work in the past and recalled His greatness and power. In closing, he rejoiced in the Lord because with God’s strength, he was able to go to the heights of the mountain top.
THOUGHTS:
In the beginning, Habakkuk questioned God why He allowed a wicked nation to punish Israel. But now, he knew that evil will not triumph forever. God is in control of everything. We must faithfully and patiently wait for him to act. Habakkuk accepted God’s will. He accepted the truth that Judah must learn a lesson. God disciplines in love to bring back sinners. We should gladly accept God’s discipline and ask Him to help us change.
At the proper time, God will bring his justice to get rid of evil. In the meantime, we should ask God to give us strength and confidence in difficult times so that we can run as deer and go in heights.
We should accept our limitation. We cannot see what God is doing and why He does not act. But we can be assured that He is God and will do what is right. This can give us the confidence to have hope in this confusing world.
