Our Daily Scripture – 4/8/25 (Tuesday)

SCRIPTURE:  MARK 13

SIGNS OF THE END TIMES (vs. 1-31)

  1.  Many will come in my name, claiming, “I am he and will deceive many. (v. 6)
  2.  You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. (v. 7)
  3.  Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. (v. 8a)
  4.  There will be earthquakes in various places and famines (v. 8b)
  5.  You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues.  On account of me, you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. (v. 9)
  6.  The gospel must first be preached to all nations. (v. 10)
  7.  You will be arrested and brought to trial but do not worry because the Holy Spirit will speak for you. (v. 11)
  8.  Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. (v. 12a)
  9.  Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. (v. 12b)
  10.  All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (v. 13)
  11.  False Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect.
  12.  The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light. (v. 24)
  13.  The stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. (v. 25)
  14.  Men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. (v. 26)
  15.  The Son of Man will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. (v. 27)
  16.  The twigs of the fig tree get tender and its leaves come out. (v. 28)

PRECAUTIONS:

  1. Let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. (v. 14)
  2. Let no one on the roof of his house go down or enter the house to take anything out. (v. 15)
  3. Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. (v. 16)
  4. It will be dreadful in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers. (v. 17)
  5. If anyone says to you, “look, here is the Christ! or ‘Look, there he is!”, do not believe it. (v. 21)

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (v. 31)

THE DAY AND HOUR UNKNOWN (vs. 32-37)

You will not know when that time will come.  It’s like a man going away; He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.  Therefore, keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back – whether in the evening or at midnight or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.  If he comes suddenly, do not let him finds you sleeping.  I say to you again ‘WATCH!”

THOUGHTS:

This chapter tells us what will happen during the end times and how to live while waiting for Christ’s return.

  1. Do not be misled by confusing claims or speculative interpretations of what will happen. (vs. 5-6)
  2. Do not be afraid to to tell people about Christ despite what they might say or do to us. (vs. 9-11)
  3. Stand firm by faith despite of persecution. (v. 13)
  4. Hold on in obedience to the Word of God which will never pass away. (v. 31)
  5. Watch and be on guard always. (v. 37, 9)
