[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 61[:]

[:en]David was in desperate situation.  Saul was after him.  His friends betrayed him.  His own son rebelled against him.  He had to flee from Jerusalem to save his life.  He cried to the Lord to lead him to the rock.  For God had been a shelter and strong tower against the foe.  David wanted to dwell in the tent of the Lord forever and to take refuge in the shelter of His wings.  He was abiding in Him for God was his tabernacle.

He asked from God the following:  (vs. 5-7)

  1. To hear his vow
  2. To give him the heritage of those who fear him
  3. To increase the days of his life for many generation
  4. To be entrhoned in God’s presence forever
  5. To appoint His love and faithfulness to protect him.

He ended up rejoicing and singing praise to His name.

Reflection:

  1. No matter how far you may go, God is with you and He hears your prayer.
  2. No matter how far you have sunk, God can lift you up and put you on the rock, firm and forever established.
  3. No matter how dangerous your situation is, God can protect you under the shadow of His wings.
  4. No matter what, you should delight in prayer, bring your requests to the Lord, rely on Him and express your praise by rejoicing in the Lord.
