[:en]Asaph the Psalmist began and ended with “GOOD”. But in between, he saw something bad in life. Why? Because his vision and values centered on people instead of on God.
He described the wicked people as follows (vs. 4-9)
- Healthy and stong
- Free from burdens
- No illness
- Poud
- Violent
- Arrogant
- Oppressive
- Evil
- Abundant
- Carefree
- Wealthy
- Prosperous.
But when he entered the sanctuary of God, he understood their final destiny. His perspective changed as he learned to know what it was like to live for the Lord from His point of view.
New perspective of the wicked people seen from the Lord’s point of view:
- The wicked will be placed on the slipp[ery ground and cast to ruin.
- They will be despised, destroyed and completely swept away.
New perspective of the righteous from the Lord’s point of view:
- God will hold him with His right hand.
- God will guide and counsel him
- God will take him into glory in heaven.
This is his conclusion:
“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (vs. 25-26)[:]
