[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 76[:]

[:en]Asaph wanted to emphasize two things:

  1.  God is to be known (vs. 1-6) – His name is great.  He brought victory to the armies.  He crushed all the enemy’s warriors and equipments.
  2. God is to be feared (vs. 7-12)  What is the meaning of fear here?  It is the reverent respect, realizing the greatness and the glory of God.  Why do we fear God?  Because He will be the judge to save the afflicted and pronounce judgment.

Let us praise the Lord for He is a great and almighty God.  Let us fear the Lord for who He is and what He has done.  For “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov. 9:10)[:]
