[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 111[:]

[:en]How can we grow in understanding of His truth?

  1. Praise Him and extol Him (v. 1) – Praise can take away the selfishness out of our lives.  It drives us away from idolatry or from living on substitutes.
  2. Remember God’s work, His glorious, wonderful and majestic deeds (vs. 2-3)
  3. Read His word and obey Him (vs. 7-9) – His precepts are trustworthy.  His covenant are eternal.  Be doers of the Word.
  4. Fear the Lord (v. 10) – showing reverence and respect to our loving Lord and Savior.

David pondered about howgracious and compassionate the Lord is.  He provided food for those who fear him and remember his covenant forever (vs. 4-5).  He gives lands for his people and provides redemption because of his faithfulness and justice. (vs. 6-9)

Knowledge and wisdom are two different things.  People may have knowledge and being called smart, but they are doing foolish things.  To be wise, ask wisdom from the Lord.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, all who follow his precepts have good understaing” (v. 10)[:]
