[:en]A proverb is defined as a short statememt based on long experience. The proverb deals with the eternal and moral aspects of life. They are key to godly character and fulfilled life.
“Wisdom” is the theme of Proverbs. What is wisdom? It is the right use of knowledge. It enables you to make the right decision and the correct choice. It gives principles, warnings and counsels for you to follow. It is a guidebook for the godly.
This chapter focuses on wisdom. To be successful, you need to have the wisdom of God. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline” (v. 7)
Exhortations to embrace Wisdom:
- Do not be enticed by sinners to harm people or get rich by wicked ways. Such is the end of all who go after ill-gotten gain. It takes away the lives of those who get it. (vs. 10-19)
- Do not reject wisdom. Do not ignor advice or reject rebuke. Otherwise calamity, distress and trouble shall overwhelm you. “For the waywardness of the simple will kill them; and the complacency of fools will destroy them. But whoever listens to me will live in safety, and be at ease, without fear of them (vs. 20-33)
