A wise man cherishes understanding (v. 3). He is patient (v. 11). He overlooks offense and is forgiving (v. 11). He obeys instruction and guards his life (v. 16) He fears the Lord (v. 23) and accepts rebuke (v. 25)
THE FOOL
The fool is without knowledge and hasty (v. 2). He argues with the Lord and follows his way (v. 3). He is a false witness who pours out lies (v. 5). He ruins the wealth of his father (v. 13) and is lazy which brings him poverty (v. 15). He is hot-tempered (v. 19). He drives his father and mother away and brings him shame and disgrace (v. 26). He refuses to listen to instruction (v. 27). His mouth speaks of evil (v. 28) and he is sure to receive penalties and beatings (v. 29)
“Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse” (v. 1)
“A foolish son is his father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping” (v. 13)
“He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done” (v. 17)
“Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death” (v. 18)
“Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise” (v. 20)
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is tthe Lord’s purpose that prevails” (v. 21)
“The fear of the Lord leads to life; Then one rests content, untouched by trouble” (v. 23)[:]
