[:en]GUARD YOUR MOUTH:
Do not be quick with your mouth; do not be hasty in your heart (v2). Do not pray hypocritically or make vows that you cannot fulfill. For God will not accept excuses when you fail to keep your vow. (vs. 4-7)
INJUSTICE EXISTS
Do not be surprised when justice and rights are denied. Work to see that justice is done but do not be disappointed if many of your efforts fail (vs. 8-9).
DO NOT COVET WEATH (vs. 10-20)
“Whoever loves money never has money enough. Whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income” (v. 10)
Money cannot satisfy or guarantee peace. The poor think that money can solve all their problems. But the rich have problems because of their money. The laborer who eats little or much has sweet sleep. But the abundance of a rich man permits him no sleep. Wealth hoarded brings harm to its owner. “Naked a man comes from his mother’s womb and as he comes so he departs. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand” (v. 15) What he gains from his toils is like a wind. All his days are full of great frustration, affliction and anger. Therefore, enjoy the wealth and possessions that God has given you,. For this is the gift of God.
“O God, gives us serenity to accept what cannot be changed, courage to change what should be changed and wisdom to distinguish the one from the other” – by Reinhold Niebuhr-
