[:en]Thoughts from “Light to My Path” (4/20/17)[:]

[:en]Scripture Reading:  John 21:15-19

Biblical Truth:  Jesus rein-stated Peter by asking him “Do you love me” 3 times.  The “Love” that Jesus referred to was unconditional and sacrificial love (AGAPE).  But Peter replied with a conditional and brotherly love (PHILEO).  Jesus knew that Peter was being honest by responding with a (PHILEO)  love considering that he had denied him 3 times before.  So during the third time, Jesus changed the degree of  LOVE from AGAPE to PHILEO because He knew Peter’s weakness and accepted whatever he could offer.  Jesus then commanded Peter to Tend His Lamb, Shepherd His sheep , Tend His sheep and Follow Him.  Peter obeyed and went out to preach the gospel, shepherd the flock and cared for the believers until the last day of his life.  He ultimately offered God the “AGAPE” love when he was crucified upside down.

Personal Application:  Jesus is asking you:  “Do you love me more than these?”  What do “these” imply?  “These” mean anything that you regard more important than God.  What will be your answer?  Are you willing to obey His command and follow Him?

Prayer:  Lord, may your love touched us to love you more.[:]
