[:en]A PROPHECY ABOUT JERUSALEM
Isaiah saw the vision of the Assyrian attack on Jerusalem. The city leaders depended on their defenses – weapons in the Palace, water in the Lower Pool, buildings in Jerusalem, reservoirs between two walls, & walls, reservoirs between two walls, They did not look to the one who planned and made it. (vs. 6-8). Instead, they were feasting, eating meat and drinking wine and did not call for fasting and prayer. (vs. 9-13)
Shebna, who was in charge of the palace used his office for personal gain (v. 19). His deceit was uncovered and exposed. He was captured, exiled and brought to shame.
But Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah was a servant who was a father to all people. He was a person who could be trusted with authority (keys) and a strong key or which the nation could put their burdens on. He was an example of a good leader that we need it today.[:]
