[:en]SCRIPTURE:  1 THESSALONIANS 5

“Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

“Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt.  Test everything.  Hold on to the good.  Avoid every kind of evil”  (1Thessalonians 5:19-22)

“The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

“The Day of the Lord” will be sudden and unexpected.  It is coming like a thief.  Christians must stay awake, be alert and be self-controlled and live as children of light.   We should put on faith and love as breastplate, and the hope of salvation as helmet.  We should encourage one another and build each other up.

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS (vs. 12-22)

  1.  Respect church leadership.  Hold the spiritual leaders in the highest regard with love.  Live in peace with one another.
  2. Care for each other by encouraging the timid, help the weak and be patient with everybody.  Warn those who are idle.
  3. Be joyful, pray without ceasing and give thanks in all circumstances.  Be grateful for all the blessings you received from the Lord.
  4. Be zealous in God’s ministry by keeping the Spirit’s fire burning
  5. Do not treat prophecies with contempt.  Instead, test the accuracy of the message.
  6. Hold on to the good and avoid every kind of evil.

LESSON:

As the “Day of the Lord” is fast approaching, let us be ready at all times.  Christian must encourage one another and offer support with actions.  Show respect to leaders in the church and express your appreciation with love.  Be sensitive to the condition of each person by encouraging those who are shy.  Help the weak and be patient with everybody.  Be joyful, continue to pray and be thankful in all circumstances.  We should test everything that is said by checking their words against the Bible.  Accept the truth and reject what is false.  Do not give evil a foothold.  Read  God’s word and put into practice.   Let God sanctify you so that you will remain blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
