“This is love for God: To obey His commands” (1 John 5:3)
“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12)
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. Adn if we know that He hears us – whatever we ask =- we know that we have what e asked of Him” (1 John 5:14-15)
He who believes that Jesus is the Son of God is born of God.
Signs of being born of God:
- You love God and His children (vs. 1-2)
- You can overcome the wolrd with victory (v. 4)
- You are assured of eternal life (v. 13)
- You can approach God and ask anything according to His will (v. 14)
- You will not continue to sin . God will keep you safe and the evil one cannot harm you (v. 18)
- You know the true living God that gives you eternal life. (vs. 20)
LESSON:
God has proven His love by His sacrifice on the cross. We have to prove our love to Christ by obeying His command – to love God and His children. As believers, we are born of God and are able to overcome the world. God has given us eternal life through His son Jesus Christ. Now we can pray with confidence according to His will. And we should keep our eyes wide open because the whole world is under the control of the evil one (v. 19). By knowing the truth, we can keep ourselves from idols and sin.
