“He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666” (Revelation 13:14-15)
THE BEAST OUT OF THE SEA (vs. 1-10)
Description of the Beast:
- He had 10 horns with 10 crowns.
- He had 7 heads with a blasphemous name on each head. One of those heads seemed to have a fatal wound that had been healed.
- He resembled leopard (Greece)
- His feet like bear (Persia)
- His mouth like lion (Babylon) which utter proud words. He blasphemed God and slandered His name and His dwelling place.
The dragon gave the beast his power, throne and authority. Man worshiped both the dragon and the beast. He makes war against the saints with authority to conquer every tribe, people, language and nations. All those whose name are not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb worship the beast. The saints have to be patient to endure and remain faithful to God.
THE BEAST OUT OF THE EARTH (vs. 11-18)
Description of the Beast:
- He had 2 horns like a lamb
- He spoke like a dragon
- He had all the authorities of the first beast
- He performed great and miraculous signs causing fire to come down from heaven to earth.
This beast deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered men to set up an image in honor of the first beast. He gave breathe to the first beast and the image will come to life to speak great things and utter blasphemies against heaven. He will kill those who refuse to worship him. He forced everyone to receive a mark 666 on his right hand or on his forehead in order to be able to buy or sell.
SUMMARY:
The counterfeit of Jesus, the Beast, the Antichrist has appeared. He wants the world to worship him as God. He speaks blaspheme words against God and persecute Christians. He establishes worldwide control of economy. Those who do not have his mark will suffer greatly. The number 666 is the number of the beast. The seven basic symbols of Roman numbers are : I, V, X, L, C, D, and M. It is interesting to note that 666 is the sum of the first 6 Roman numerals as follows:
I=1, V=5, X=10, L=50, C=100, D=500 The sum is 666, which suggests the revival of the Roman Empire.
Six is an interesting number. The number 6 was used in the secret mystery religions of the East. 7 is the number of perfection which Satan cannot reach. Nebuchadnezzar’s image in Daniel 3:1 is 90 feet height and 9 feet wide. In Aramaic, it is 60 cubits high and 6 cubits wide. Giant Goliath was identified with the #6 as his iron point of spear shaft weight 600 shekels. (1 Samuel 17:7). Man was created on the 6th day and has to work for 6 days. Total hours of a day is 24 hours (6×6). Total months is 12 (6×2). Total minutes is 60 (6×10).
There are 4 different words for man in the Old Testament and 2 in the New Testament which total 6.

There are 6 different names for Satan in the Old Testament:
- Serpent – Genesis 3:1
- Adversary – Job 1
- Morning star, son of the dawn – Isaiah 14:12
- The Anointed Guardian Cherub – Ezekiel 28:14
- Accuser – Zechariah 3:1)
- Slanderer – from Hebrew HA which is translated in Septuagint as DIABOLOS meaning slanderer
There are 6 kinds of animals that describes Satan:
- Serpent (Gen. 3:1)
- Bird (Mat. 13:4)
- Wolf (John 10:12)
- Lion (1 Pet. 5:8)
- Dragon (Rev. 12:9)
- Beast (Rev. 13:1)
The Antichrist number “666” represents the highest number of mankind. However, the Bible has 66 books (Old Testament-39; New Testament-27) to counter and defeat Satan.
Similar to Roman numerals, both Hebrew and Greek numbers are made from letters. Using the Greek Ionic Ciphered Numeral System, each letter of the Greek alphabet is assigned a numerical value. In Christian numerology, the number 888 represents the Greek name of Jesus. The name of Jesus in Greek is spelled (I-Iota, H-Eta, Σ-Sigma, O-Omicron, Υ-Upsicon, Σ-Sigma).
