“Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book” (Revelation 22:7)
“Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me; and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have the right to the tree and may go through the gate into the city. (Revelation 22:12-14)
“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star” (Revelation 22:16)
“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book. If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the Tree of Life and in the Holy City which are described in this book” (Revelation 22:18-19)
THE RIVER OF LIFE (vs. 1-6)
The River of Life is clear as crystal flows from the throne of the Lamb to the great street of the city. The Tree of Life stood on each side of river bearing 12 crops of fruit in each month. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
The servants with God’s name on their foreheads will see the Lamb and serve Him, who is on the throne. There will be no curse and no more night. They will not need the light of the lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. They will reign with Him forever and ever.
JESUS IS COMING (vs. 6-21)
“I’m coming” appears three times this this chapter (vs. 7, 12, 20). John fell down to worship the angel but the angel said: “Do not do it. I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers, the prophets and all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!” (v. 9)
The angel told John not to seal the book because the time is near. John’s prophecy is coming soon. Warning is give to those who continue to sin. Everyone is free to make his own decision either to be righteous or wicked. Now invitation is made for the lost souls to come and take the free gift of the water of life.
Warning is given to those who add or subtract God’s word. Judgment will be given to those who add their own theories and traditions or take away God’s words to fit their theology. Plagues will be added to them and his share in the Tree of Life and in the Holy City will be taken away. In closing, God says: “I am coming soon and we respond by saying: “Amen, come Lord Jesus” (v. 20)
SUMMARY
This is the last chapter of Revelation. The Lord is coming soon! Are you keeping and obeying His Word? We are told not to worship angel but only to worship God. God is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. He is coming to reward us according to what we have done. What have you done for Christ? Are you a faithful servant of God? Do you bring lost souls to Him? God’s word should not be altered nor changed. Anyone who adds anything to them, God will add plagues to him. Anyone who takes away His Word, God will take away His blessings. Are you ready to meet Jesus?[:]
