[:en]The Lord appeared to Solomon and asked: “Ask for whatever you want me to give you” (v. 6). Solomon’s answer was: “Give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong” (v. 9). God was pleased with what he asked because his concern was the ability to serve his people well. So God also gave Solomon riches and honor (v. 13).
