[:en]SCRIPTURE:  ROMANS 8

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that wil be revealed to us” (Romans 8:18)

“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26)

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.  For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.  And those He predestined, He also called, those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified” (Romans 8:28-30)”

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

LIFE THROUGH THE SPIRIT (vs. 1-17)

When the Holy Spirit dwells in us, it fulfills the righteousness of the Law in us.  The Law can no longer condemn us.  The Holy Spirit enables the believer to walk in the Spirit that pleases Him.  The Spirit gives us glorious life of liberty in Christ.  But liberty in Christ does not mean that we have the freedom to do anything we please.  Instead, we must put to death the deeds of the flesh by the power of the Spirit.

FUTURE GLORY (vs. 18-27)

When Adam disobeyed God, the whole creation was under the bondage of sin.  But Christ has died for us and delivered us free from the penalty and power of sin.  We have the hope that if we die, the Spirit will raise our body to life.

There are 3 GROANS stated:

  1. Groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time (v. 22)
  2. Groaning inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies (v. 23)
  3. Groaning of the Spirit interceding for the saints in accordance with God’s will (v. 27).

As we endure sufferings, the Spirit intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  The Spirit prays in the will of God.

MORE THAN CONQUERORS (vs. 28-39)

Those who love God, He called us according to His purpose.  He predestined us to be conformed to the likeness of His Son.  He justified us so that no one can condemn us.  And He glorified us at the return of Christ.

No one can separate us from the love of Christ.  Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (vs. 38-39)[:]
