[:en]SCRIPTURE:  ROMANS 16

“I urge you brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned.  Keep away from them.  For such people are not serving our Lord Christ. but their own appetites.  By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of the naive people” (Romans 16:17-18)

“But I want you to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil” (Romans 16:19)

PERSONAL GREETINGS

In this final chapter of Romans, Paul sent his final personal greetings to all who helped make his ministry possible.

Paul also warned the believers to avoid Christians who cause trouble and division because of their selfish desires.  These people were flatterers of smooth talk that deceive the simple.  His advice was “Be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil” (v. 19)

Finally, Paul acknowledged some servants worthy to be mentioned:

  1. Timothy, Lucius, Jason and Sosipater
  2. Tertius, who wrote down this letter
  3. Gaius, a hospitable saint
  4. Erastus, the city director of public works
  5. Quartus, a brother

May we follow Paul’s example by knowing how to acknowledge believers who are faithful to God and helpful to fellow Christians.  May all saints serve God willingly and show love to all men.[:]
