[:en]SCRIPTURE:   NEHEMIAH 9

“But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love” (Nehemiah 9:17)

“In all that has happened to us, you have been just; you have acted faithfully, while we did wrong” (Nehemiah 9:33)

THE ISRAELITES CONFESS THEIR SINS (vs. 1-38)

GOD’S BLESSINGS TO THE PEOPLE:

  1.  He made a covenant with Abraham to give his descendants the land of Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites and Girgashites (vs. 7-8)
  2. He sent miraculous signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his officials, and against all people of his land (v. 10)
  3. He heard their cry and parted the Red Sea for them to pass through the dry land (vs. 9-11)
  4. He led them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (v. 12)
  5. He gave them the 10 commandments at Mt. Sinai (v. 13)
  6. He gave them manna from heaven and brought them water from rock (v. 15)
  7. He sustained them with clothes and shoes that did not wear out in the desert (v. 21)
  8. He let them won over kingdoms and nations (v. 22)
  9. He made their sons as numerous as the stars in the sky and brought them to the promised land of Cana (vs. 23-25)
  10. He gave them all kinds of good things in abundance and were well-nourished (v. 25)
  11. He delivered them time after time when they cried out to Him (v. 28)
  12. He did not put an end to them or abandon them because of His great mercy (v. 31)
  13. He had been just and acted faithfully while they did wrong (v. 33)

SINS OF ISRAELITES:

  1.  They became arrogant and stiff-necked and did not obey God’s commands (v. 16)
  2. They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles God had performed (v. 17a)
  3. They were rebellious and appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery (v. 17b)
  4. They were disobedient and rebelled against God.  They killed their prophets and committed awful blasphemies (v. 26)
  5. They did what was evil in God’s sight (v. 28)
  6. They became stiff-necked and sinned against God’s ordinances and turn their back on God (v. 29)
  7. They did not serve God or turn from their evil ways despite of the fertile land and goodness that God had given them (v. 35)

Let us examine ourselves and remember what God had done for us.
