[:en]SCRIPTURE: JOB 22
“Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart” (Job 22:21-22)
“If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored. If you remove wickedness far from your tent, and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines, then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you” (Job 22:23-26)
“Your will pray to him and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows. What you decide on will be done; and light will shine on your ways” (Job 22:27-28)
ELIPHAZ
Eliphaz, the Temanite, had a new approach. He said: “God is just and does what it right; therefore, He is not influenced by man’s good deeds. So, Job’s righteousness did not do any good for God.
Eliphaz mentioned the sins that Job must have committed:
- He demanded security from his brothers for no reason; he stripped men of their clothing, leaving them naked (v. 6)
- He did not give food nor water to the hungry and weary (v. 7)
- He sent the widow’s away empty-handed and oppressed the fatherless (v. 9)
- He kept the old path that evil men have trod (v. 15)
He gave Job the following advices:
- Submit to God and be at peace with him (v. 31)
- Accept instructions from God and keep his words in your heart (v. 22)
- Return to the Almighty and remove your wickedness (v. 23)
- Pray to him and fulfill your vow and he will hear you (v. 27)
