[:en]Thoughts from Deuteronomy 26[:]

[:en]The people of Israel had to observe two rituals.

1.  First Fruit – when they reaped their first harvest, they had to give the first fruit to God.  This is to acknowledge Him as the Redeemer of the nation and to give glory for the blessings he had bestowed on them

2.  Tithes – they had to set aside a tenth of all their produce in the third year to help support the Levites, the aliens, the fatherless and the widows.  They were reminded to follow the Lord’s command so that He will set them in praise, fame and honor above all the nations and a people holy to the Lord.[:]
